There are five main means to reach Lithuania: plane, bus, train, ferry, and car. Some options may lead you to Vilnius, which sometimes is more convenient for the arrival by plane. Vilnius is 100 km away from Kaunas. If you use public transport, your destination to Kaunas is Kaunas Bus Station (Kauno autobusų stotis) or Kaunas Train Station (Kauno geležinkelio stotis). They are situated close to each other and to the city centre.
By plane. Lithuania has three international airports in Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga (close to Klaipėda, the seaport), which can be reached from the main European cities, as well as, from all over the world. Cheap flight companies Ryanair and airBaltic (to Kaunas and Vilnius), Wizzair (to Vilnius) can offer you a flight to Lithuania at a reasonable price.

From Vilnius, you can go to Kaunas by bus or by train. Therefore, from Vilnius International Airport you need to go to Vilnius Bus Station or Vilnius Train Station which are situated close to each other. You can reach Vilnius Bus or Train Stations from the airport:
- By bus. The bus stop is just to the left as you exit the arrivals hall. You may buy your ticket from the driver for €1. Bus No. 1 goes from the airport to the Bus and Train Stations (15 min.) approximately from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m.
- By train. The train stop is 150 meters straight as you exit the arrivals hall (keep on the left side of the road; there is an elevator down to the station). The train goes from the airport to the Train Station (1-2 times per hour) from 7:17 a.m. to 7:44 p.m. Duration: 7 min.
- By taxi. You can find taxi as you exit the arrival hall. Ask to take you to the Bus or Train Station.
By bus. If you live in one of neighboring countries, you may take a bus to Lithuania. For instance, you can choose between, such international lines as Eurolines, Ecolines, etc.

Tickets can be purchased at the stations. Railway stations and ticket offices are open 24 hours. Tickets are not sold if there are less than 5 minutes left before the train departure.
By ferry. Ferries to Lithuania (Klaipėda city) are going from Germany and Sweden.

From Vilnius
Once you are at Vilnius Bus Station or Vilnius Train Station, you can reach Kaunas within 1 hour 30 minutes.
From the bus station. Buses from Vilnius to Kaunas go approximately every 30 minutes. You may buy a ticket at the ticket office inside the building (Bilietų kasos) or on the bus. The price may vary from €5.99 to €7. The bus arrives to Kaunas Bus Station.
From Train Station. Trains from Vilnius to Kaunas Train Station go every hour from 4:30 a.m. till 8:40 p.m. You may purchase ticket at the ticket office inside the building (Bilietų kasos), price varies from €5.32 to €5.89.
